With the rapid development of modern city, gas as a sort of clean energy has beendelivered to every corner of the city, as an important component of gas transmission anddistribution system, the safe and reliable operation of gas regulator determines security andstability of the entire gas supply system. Therefore, researching the gas regulator online safetywarning technology and building an effective online security early warning system, hasimportant social and economic significance.for the development of gas system. The object of this paper is low-pressure gas regulator which has been widely used in gastransmission and distribution system, mainly using EMD Toolbox of MATLAB and energymatrix to analysis the data of regulator’s outlet pressure, extracting the different feature ofdifferent failure regulator’s characteristics to form the model of safety early warning system.Based on the analysis on a large number of regulators to verify the safety warning model, this paper designes a offline fault diagnosis system of gas regulator based on GUI ofMATLAB software, and introduce the implementation process of different functional modules.Additionally, this paper designes a gas regulator Online Safety warning system based on theVisual C++and MATLAB, the system’s core EMD decomposition and fault diagnosisprocedures use Matlab programming language and returns the result to Visual C++, whileother modules are developed on Visual C++platform. Currently online safety warningsystem has been on-line tested for two months, the system performes well during on-lineoperation, and maintenance personnels have repaired some serious failures gas regulator.
