Study On Asclepiadaceae Plants Application In Landscape

Garden plant landscape is more and more abundant in modern landscape architecture, while plant materials can not meet the need of the development of landscape any more.The development situation bring more opportunities to the wild plant resources. It is a developing trend that more new plant resources should be exploited and used in the landscape design.In this dissertation, Asclepiadaceae plants were studied. By consulting literatures, I learn about lots of important information, including the origin on earth, the cultural history, the taxonomic position in botany, geographic distribution, morphological characters and so on. At present, there are260genuses with about3000species of Asclepiadaceae in the world, which is mainly distributed in tropical and main families of the tropical floristic. I study the present application of Asclepiadaceae plants in gardens by investigating urban green space of Fuzhou, the flower market of Fuzhou, Wanshi botanical garden and consulting correlative literatures. I evaluate the value of Asclepiadaceae plants in the application of the garden from ornamental value, ecological adaptability, the potential for landscape application, and analysis the applied form and the development prospect of Asclepiadaceae plants. The results of the studies are listed as follows:(1)According to the literature, Asclepiadaceae plants have a fairly early origin, with form rich plant group on earth. They are base on herbaceous, shrub, succulent plants, and upright or sprawling, rarely are trees. Most of Asclepiadaceae plants have medicinal value, meanwhile they have a long medical history. Some plants can be exploited to use as the energy plants.(2)Through consulting greats quantity of literature datum and combined with field, I sum up the ornamental plant resources of32genuse of Asclepiadaceae, which have prospect for landscape application. I summarize the ornamental characteristics, including shape, color, flower, fruit, leaf, ornamental time, so on.(3)By investigating urban green space of Fuzhou, the flower market of Fuzhou, Wanshi botanical garden, I know the present application of Asclepiadaceae plants in gardens. The results of investigation as follow: there are four plants in Fuzhou, such as Periploca sepium, Asclepias curassavica, Hoya kerrii Craib, Telosma cordata. Among them, Periploca sepium and Asclepias curassavica were mainly used to the Landscape green space, Hoya kerrii Craib and Telosma cordata be found at the flower markets. There are nine plants in Wanshi botanical garden, such as Asclepias curassavica, Ceropegia woodii, Stapelia grandiflora, Stapelianthus decaryi, Huernia zebrina, Huernia oculata, Stapelianthus pilosus, Caralluma hesperidum, Orbea variegata. Among them, Asclepias curassavica is applied to the medicinal plant garden, others are applied to the greenhouse of psammophilic botanical garden.(4)By applying the analytic hierarchy process, the paper builds up the comprehensive evaluation system of Asclepiadaceae plants. Then,12species of plants above are evaluated and graded up. In evaluation, the weight of ornamental value is highest, which is0.6144. The weights are in the top6for total sorts, which include application forms in gardens, colour, show of flowers and fruits, quantity of ornamental organ, the degree of utilization, ecology habits.These factors play a significant role in the exploitation and utilization of Asclepiadaceae plants. In grade evaluation, Periploca sepium and Hoya kerrii Craib are grade1, which with highest value can be exploited on a large scale. Asclepias curassavica and Telosma cordata are grade2, which with higher value can be exploited on a moderate scale. Stapelia grandiflora, Ceropegia woodii, Huernia zebrine, Caralluma europaea, Caralluma hesperidum, Stapelianthus pilosus, Stapelianthus decaryi, Orbea variegata are grade3, which have certain limitations in the application of the garden. These plants with general value can be exploited on a small scale, which can be applied to delicate garden environments.(5)The article studies the application potential and application forms of Asclepiadaceae plants in landscape base on the quantity of resources, ornamental value, ecological value, economic value, medicinal value, energy value and the result of comprehensive evolution. I summarize that abundant application forms and broad application space of Asclepiadaceae plants in landscape, especially the advantages in vertical greening, such as a lot of climbing plants, good ecological adaptation and an amazing ability to improve the urban ecological environment. Hoya with high ornamental value has many horticultural varieties at home and abroad.They can propagate by cutting and have good application prospect. So, they can be intensively developed and applied in landscape. Other plants can be applied to landscapes or scientific research according to their advantages and disadvantages.
