This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of molybdenum combinedwith cadmium stress on the metabolism of free radical mitochondrial and the expressionsof apoptosis related genes in the kidney from goat.63goats were randomly assigned intoseven different groups, and three repeated of each group.[(NH4)6Mo7O244H2O] had beenused as the source of molybdenum, and CdCl2had been used as the source of cadmium.The treatments consisted of control group (0mgMo·kg-1·BW+0mgCd·kg-1·BW), lowcadmium-low molybdenum group (15mgMo·kg-1·BW+0.5mgCd·kg-1·BW), lowcadmium-middle molybdenum group (30mgMo·kg-1·BW+0.5mgCd·kg-1·BW), lowcadmium-high molybdenum group (45mgMo·kg-1·BW+0.5mgCd·kg-1·BW), highcadmium-low molybdenum group (15mgMo·kg-1·BW+1.0mgCd·kg-1·BW), highcadmium-middle molybdenum group (30mgMo·kg-1·BW+1.0mg Cd·kg-1·BW)and highcadmium-high molybdenum group (45mgMo·kg-1·BW+1.0mgCd·kg-1·BW) for50daysunder normal condition. Blood samples were collected on days0,10,20,30,40and50todetermine the change of kidney function, Kidney tissue sample were collected on days0,25and50to determine the activities of mitochondrial and the expressions of apoptosisrelated genes in the kidney, results were as follows.(1) Compared with those of control group, the contents of creatinine in serum wereincreased (P<0.01) on the20th day of high cadmium-low molybdenum group, the40thday of high cadmium-middle molybdenum group, high cadmium-high molybdenum group,and the50th day of high cadmium-high molybdenum group. The contents of urea nitrogenin serum were increased (P<0.01) on the10th day of low cadmium-middle molybdenumgroup,the20th day of low cadmium-low molybdenum group, low cadmium-highmolybdenum group, high cadmium-low molybdenum group and the30th day of highcadmium-high molybdenum group.(2) Compared with those of control group, the activities of the T-AOC and SOD weredecreased (P<0.01), and the contents or activities of the MDA, NO, NOS and CAT wereincreased(P<0.05或P<0.01) in the experimental groups on the25th and50th day.(3) Compared with those of control group, the expressions of bcl-2mRNA weredecreased (P<0.01), the expressions of bax mRNA, caspase-3mRNA and cytc mRNAwere increased(P<0.05或P<0.01) in the experimental groups on the25th and50th day.(4) On the50th day, the epithelial cells of proximal convoluted tubule of the lowcadmium-low molybdenum group, the low cadmium-high molybdenum group, the highcadmium-middle molybdenum group, and the high cadmium-high molybdenum groupbegan to degenerate and die, the glomerular began to swelling.The results indicated that molybdenum combined with cadmium stress could decrease the function of antioxidant, increase the contents of free radical of mitochondrial, increasethe expressions of promote apoptosis genes and decrease the expressions of anti-apoptosisgenes in the kidney from goat.It was showed that molybdenum combined with cadmiumstress had significant damages in the kidney from goat.
