According to four aspects including the appearance quality, chemical components, sensory qualityof smoking and aroma substances, a systematically analys is was applied in this paper to characterizetobacco quality, the difference of tobacco quality from three parts and different varieties werecompared, the important indexes which has effect on quality of tobacco were determined. All theseresults provided guidance for practical production, provided cigarette industry with references abouthow to utilize yellow sun-cured tobacco in Hezhou reasonably. It was also first proposed the evaluationindexes, and laid a foundation for further research. The specific results were as follows:1. The characteristic of tobacco quality from different partsThe tobacco leaves from middle part had better maturity, moderate identity, loose structure, butelasticity was generally. The top part leaves were slightly thick, the bottom part leaves were a bit thin, slightly tight structure, less oil content. The chemical composition of middle tobacco leaves wascoordination.Soluble sugar content of middle part leaves were higher than the other parts.Total alkaloids, total nitrogen and potassium content was placed in the middle of its part, and the content of chlorine waslowest. Tobacco leaves had better aroma quality, enough aroma quantity, thicker concentration, andmore comfortable aftertaste. Leaves from top part had miscellaneous gas, excitant and strength wasslightly large. Middle and bottom part leaves had lighter miscellaneous gas, moderate excitant andstrength. On analysis of variance was found that the difference of19substances content reachedsignificant level.2. Indexes had important affect on the quality of tobaccoThe content of total nitrogen and chlorine, excitant and miscellaneous gas were important indexesfor somking quality of yellow sun-cured tobacco.Statistical analys is showed that the content of6-methyl-2-hepten-2-one,-ionone, solanone,4-hydroxy-benzenemethanol, tetradecanal, tetradecane,2-methyl-cyclopentanol, neophytadiene, linalool, duvatriene-1,3-diol, linolenic acid, methyl ester, pentanol were significantly positively related to the quality of tobacco leaf. The content of6-methyl-3,5-heptadien-2-one,megastigmatrien-3-one,dihydro-actinidiolide,hydroxyacetone,2-acetyl-1-pyrroline,2,6-dimethyl-1,3,5-heptatrinen,palmitic-acid,oleic-acid,2,3-dimethyl-1-hexene,dihydro-2-methyl-3(2H)-furanone were significantly negatively related to the quality of tobacco leaves.3. The quality of tobacco leaves of different varieties from middle partThe small-leaved tobacco with good maturity, uniform color, loose structure, but with oil, hadgood elasticity. As a whole, the purity of tobacco grade was better. The broad-leaved tobacco withgeneral maturity, uneven color, and the color of leaves between front and back was different. Tobaccoleaves generally contained green, were moderate thickness, with less oil and elastic. As a whole, the purity of tobacco grade was poorer. Tobacco leaf had enough aroma quantity, thicker concentration, moderate strength. The small-leaved tobacco better aroma quality, and more comfortable aftertaste.Zhangcun small tobacco had more content of soluble sugar, but less content of total nitrogen and totalalkaloids. Daning tobacco had less content of potassium and chlorine. Huang tobacco had more contentof total alkaloids. Broad-leaved tobacco contained more content of aroma substances which werebenefit to tobacco quality, less aroma substances content which were detrimentally to the quality oftobacco leaf. As a whole, the quality of broad-leaved tobacco was inferior to small tobacco, the qualityof Xiwei and Huang tobacco were superior to other broad-leaved tobacco leaves.
