Taking the31-year-old larch(Larix Olgensis) provenance test plantation and the26-year-old Larch(Larix Olgensis) half-sib families progeny test plantation as research objects, We analysed the genetic variations in growthtraits, timber characters, biomass of trunk and carbon content. The mainly analysis methods used in this study included difference comparison, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Finally we selected the superior provenances and families of high carbon content capacity. The main research results are as follows:The study of non-destructive sampling showed that carbon content rate in different positions of trunk existed differences, but the varied range is not obvious, the changes in carbon content rate between45%-45%. Sample at1.3m and wooden core have less difference with average value of trunk in carbon content rate, the correlation of them is significant positive. The respective result of regression analysis between average value of trunk with sample at1.3m and wooden core showed that they have obvious liner relation. Finally we derived two liner equations, the R2are0.8852and0.8425. Two equations fitting degree reached expectant level. Comprehensive results showed that the carbon content rate of sample at1.3m and wood core can effectively represent and calculate the average rate of carbon content in trunk. The provenance test results show that the genetic variation in timber characters and carbon content rate is relatively less. It’s plentiful in height, volume. biomass and carbon content of the woods, the coefficients of variation are14.60%.22.38%.21.33%and21.30%. The results of correlation analysis show that the relativity between carbon content with growthtraits and main biomass is significant positive correlation. According to above results, we analysed the data by the theory of variance analysis and Duncan method. Finally we chose XBH and BDS as the best provenances. The mean values about the carbon content of XBH and BDS are74.38kg and69.27kg. The mean value of these two provenances is higher than the grand mean by27.83%. The carbon content of XBH provenance is higher than the least provenance LSH by47.8%, and higher than the mean value of all the provenances by28.3%.The half-sib families progeny test results showed that there are abundant variations in volume, biomass of trunk and carbon content, the coefficients of genetic variation are24.9%,25.8%and27.8%. The family heritabilities are0.671,0.639and0.634. It is moderate level by genetic control. Variations in the characters of timber and carbon content rate are relatively less. The variation coefficients of density and carbon content rate are8.65%and6.58%. The result of correlation analysis showed that the relationship between carbon content and growthtraits, biomass of trunk is significant positive correlation. Finally we choose the four families(73-46,73-49,73-11,73-14) as the superior families by variance analysis and multiple comparison. The mean of carbon content in single plant of this four families is29.06Kg, it’s higher than the mean of total families57.05%, than CK130.46%, than least carbon content family190.86%. If we use73-14to afforest, the carbon content per ha. is higher than the existing plantantion70.88%, it’s2.16times higher than afforest by73-45.
