In order to reduce labor intensity and improve benefits of hybrid seed production, a technology of seed production which used mechanical direct-seeding was studied in Xinshao, Hunan province in2011.Compared the female parent seed production of mechanical direct-seeding with handmade transplanting in Lingliangyou268. Analysis were conducted at population quality of growth and development, structure of seeding and spikelet, yield of seed production, together with effects of gibberellin (GA3) on yield in different spraying time and dosages. The main results were as follows:1. Under seeding the same weigh of female parent in the same day, the duration from seeding to heading of mechanical direct-seeding has been advanced1-3d, and the date of heading and full blooming has been delayed1d compared with handmade transplanting. In addition, the period of full heading and blooming was the same between the two transplanting ways.2. In this way of mechanical direct-seeding, the yield was higher than the way of handmade transplanting by10.19%. Meanwhile, the seed setting rate of female parent was58.89%,and higher by9.21%compared with the handmade transplanting. The spikelet per panicle, the filled grains per panicle and the1000-grain weight were less14,1.02grain and0.67g,respectively.3. For Xiangling628S, the neck length of panicle were0.27and0.83cm, and the panicle could head normally when spraying10and20g667m-2GA3at the time of heading by15%and35%, respectively. Therefore, solving the heading problem of Xiangling628S under mechanical direct-seeding, the dosage of GA3should be increased with the increasing of heading.4. Spraying GA3with10,20,30and40g667m-2at the time of heading15%, the seed setting rate of Xiangling628S were52.62,62.23,58.66and57.24%,respectively,which suggested that Xiangling628S was easy to attain high yield in mechanical direct-seeding.5. The glumes-opening rate of Lingliangyou268was relatively high, and the unilaterally glumes-opening rate was significantly higher than the bilaterally. When spraying four dosages of GA3at the time of heading15%and35%, the glumes-opening rates were36.00%~30.34%and36.33%-49.90%,respectively. Therefore, decreasing spraying dosage of GA3was useful to avoid the glumes opening for Lingliangyou268.6. The seed germination rate was80.3%~88.0%among all treatments in this experiment, which had achieved the national standards. So, it was to the benefit of improving the seed germination of Lingliangyou268with mechanical direct-seeding for female parent.
