The Research And Demonstration Of Production Key Technology Of Qianxi Chestnut

The purpose of this report was to do some research on the difficult problems ofQianxi Chestnut’s production. The report focused on four key aspects: breeding andspread of new chestnut varieties, pruning technique of Chestnut Close PlantingGarden, management technology of water and fertilizer, and the prevention andtreatment of main pests. Here were the main results:1. Breeding three new chestnut varieties: Qianxi Zaohong: Compared with themainly-planted variety, Yanshan Zaofeng, this variety ripened3days ahead (beforeAugust28th.), had less male flowers, and more highly productive. Qianxi Wanhong:High quality and late-maturing (ripen around September23rd). Qianxi Zhuanglicould be high yield in barren land. With the spread of new varieties, there were morechoices of variety and the problem of intensive mature period had been solved.2. The research of "Four controls" Pruning Technology: solution to the problemof ripened trees with too many branches but without fruits, especially in the ChestnutsClose Planting Garden。3. Management technology of holding water and fertilization: The specificpattern was one tree with plastic mulching, one little “well” with natural precipitation,and one little “reservoir” with fertilizer, which could prolong15days against thedrought. With the research of among the agricultural water-retaining agent, differentaged trees and different productions, the earth of the trees could hold watereffectively and the production has increased by16.9%per mu.4. The prevention and treatment of main pests: With the mixture of40%polyvinyl alcohol and5degrees lime sulfur to prevent red spiders, the no hatchingratio of hibernating eggs’ had been to81.91%，the death ratio of the red spiders hadbeen to90.53%. Oil sunflowers lure Peach pyralid moth, which had decreased theinsect infestation ratio by0.65%.
