A Study On Sun Yat-sen’s Forestry Thought

Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary andhe promoted the development of Chinese forestry in modern history. When Sun was traveling around the world, he started to concern about the forestry development in China. Sun published a series articles about Chinese forestry in which he predicted a trend of the forestry development in China, and drafted a blueprint of forestry construction as well. This paper constitutes a study on contents and significance of Sun’s forestry thought. The research scope of this paper is the modern forestry situation of China and the revolutionary history of Sun Yat-sen.Several historical documents was collected, analyzed, compared to expound the development and characteristic of Sun’s forestry thought.The research shows that People’s Livelihood is theory basis and practice guidance for Sun’s forestry thought.The focus of Sun’s forestry thought is to promote the forestry economic development and realize the happiness of the people’s livelihood. The starting point of the forestry economic construction thought is "Industrial salvation". The foothold of the people’s happiness is "benefit the public" and "prevention the natural disasters". Sun called for many national capitalists investing in forestry production and forestry industry to realize forestry salvation.Sun encouraged young people to accept the forestry education to help farmer produce. By this way, farmer could increase income and people’s material needs were met.Sun pointed out that forest can prevent natural disasters, so he called on people planting trees to ensure the ecological balance and sustainable utilization. Sun realized that forestry was very importance in economic development and ecological construction; he proposed that forest was administrated by national government.In the course of the research, this paper tries to make Sun’s forestry thought is more comprehensive.In the meantime and illustrates the importance of Sun’s forestry thought on China forestry development.
