Objective To observe the change of concentration of C-reactiveprotein、Neuron-specific enolase and Interferon-γin CSF of patientswith central nervous system infection, and to clarify the meaning ofdistinguish and diagnose in central nervous system infection. Methods The cerebrospinal fluid levels of CRP was detectedwith the rate nephelometry assay and NSE and IFN-γ was detected withdouble antibody sandwich method and enzyme linked immunosorbentassay. The level of NSE、CRP and IFN-γ in the cerebrospinal fluidwas measured from86patients with central nervous system infection(32viral encephalitis(VE),26tuberculous meningitis(TM),28purulentmeningitis(PM))and20control subjects. The contents of NSE in all caseswere significantly higher than those of controls (P﹤0.05);the contents of NSE inviral encephalitis showed significantly difference compered with tuberculousmeningitis or purulent meningitis (P﹤0.05)Results the concentration of CRP in cases with purulentmeningitis or tuberculous meningitis did not show significantlydifference compered with the controls(P﹤0.05). The contents of NSEin all cases were significantly higher than those of controls (P﹤0.05);The contents of NSE in viral encephalitis showed significantlydifference compered with tuberculous meningitis or purulent meningitis(P﹤0.05);The contents of IFN-γ in TM and VE were significantlyhigher than those of controls (P﹤0.05);the concentration of IFN-γ in cases with viral encephalitis or tuberculous meningitis showedsignificantly difference compered with purulent meningitis (P﹤0.05);there were not significantly different between purulent meningitis andthe controls(P﹥0.05);and there were not significantly different betweentuberculous meningitis and viral encephalitis (P﹥0.05).Conclusions Simultaneous determination of CRP、NSE and IFN-γ incerebrospinal fluid is helpful for differential diagnosis intracranialinfection and determination of degree of encephalic damage.
