Objective: To study the two types of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-2and MMP-1)in the tissue of middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium expression and invasion anddestruction, and to explore the correlation of both, from the molecular level understandingof the pathogenesis of cholesteatoma. Methods: Using immunohistochemical method todetect39cases were confirmed by pathological type of cholesteatoma otitis media patientsin different parts of the middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium specimens, MMP-2andMMP-1expression in audiology examination according to the patients were divided intomild deafness, mild deafness, moderately severe deafness, severe deafness, extremelysevere deafness; According to art seen in cholesteatoma attack is divided into I, II, III andⅣdegrees, combined with clinical data and cholesteatoma based site and so on wereanalyzed. Results: Different level of hearing loss, cholesteatoma, invasion ofcholesteatoma epithelial tissue of MMP1and positive expression of MMP-2differencewas statistically significant (P <0.05), the expression of MMP-2and MMP-1waspositively correlation (r=0.831, P <0.05). Gender, age, based site of MMP1and theexpression of MMP-2had no statistical significance (P>0.05). Conclusion:1. TheMMP-2and MMP1in middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium has high expression, showthat both in cholesteatoma epithelial proliferation and bone destruction in the process ofplay an important role.2. MMP-2and MMP1in middle ear cholesteatoma tissue withthe surrounding bone damage scope and degree of hearing loss in patients with increased, the expression quantity has been increased, tip in cholesteatoma epithelium damage tobone destruction and listening plays a very important role.3. Between MMP-2and MMP-1expression in the tissue of middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium were positivelycorrelated, prompted both in the cholesteatoma tissue proliferation and invasion behaviormay have synergy.
