Clinical Study Of Correlation Between Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody And Coronary Heart Disease

Objective:This study aimed to investigate the correlation between Thyroid peroxidase antibody and coronary heart disease and its severity.Methods:The patients undergoning coronary angiography in our hospital from September2011to April2012were recruited. Demographic characters and indices of metabolic biomarkers were collected, and angiography results were also calculated as Gensini score. A total of425patients were finally included in the study, of whom30patients were found with elevated titer of TPO-Ab. According to the level of TPO-Ab, all the patients were divided into TPO-Ab positive group and TPO-Ab negative group. Mann-Whitney U test for nonparametric and Chi square test for categorical comparisons were used to compared the demographic profiles, thryroid function, Gensini score between patients with and without elevation of thyroid peroxidase antibody. Spearman correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were employed to examine the association between thyroid autoantibodies (TPO-Ab or TG-Ab) and Gensini score or different groups. A2-tailed level of P less than0.05was considered statistical significant.Results:Among patients with positive TPO-Ab,15patients (50.00%) were in group of coronary sclerosis, and15in group of stenosis. Otherwise,75patients (18.99%) with normal TPO-Ab were in group of non-stenosis,164patients (41.52%) in coronary sclerosis and156(39.49%) patients in stenosis. Gensini score were significantly higher in TPO-Ab+group (20.83±20.56versus37.91±48.73, p<0.05,), suggesting more sever coronary arteries stenosis in this group. Spearman sum correlation analysis showed significant correlation between Gensini score and TPO-Ab as categorical variable (TPO-Ab+or TPO-Ab-, r=0.102, p<0.05).Conclusion:. The patients with elevated TPO-Ab exhibited higher prevalence of coronary heart disease and more sever artery stenosis.
