Purpose: Investigate the relationship between gene polymorphism ofGlutathione S-Transferase M1(GSTM1), Glutathione S-Transferase T1(GSTT1) and the susceptibility with primary angle closure glaucoma inChinese Han population. Methods: Here we collected blood samples from211cases of Hanprimary angle closure glaucoma patient and422health volunteers, and thenseparated the cases into acute and chronic group according to diagnosestandard, furthermore, multiple allele-specific polymerase chain reaction(Multiplex PCR) was employed to detect GSTT1and GSTM1genepolymorphism.Results: The null genotype frequency distributions of GSTT1are53.1%and53.8%in PACG and control respectively, no significantdifference was found (χ~2=0.0286, P=0.866); Furthermore, the frequencyof GSTT1-null genotype in subgroup of PACG, in terms of APACG andCPACG are46.3%and55.4%respectively, and compared this with control,no significant difference was found as well (χ~2=0.1267, P=0.722),(χ~2=0.0362, P=0.849) respectively. The frequency of GSTM1-null genotype are58.3%and56.3%in PACG and control respectively, none the less, nosignificant difference was found (χ~2=0.2063, P=0.650). Distributions offrequencies of GSTM1are61.1%and56.3%in APACG and CPACGrespectively, no significant differences were found both in betweenAPACG with control (χ~2=0.0279, P=0.867) and CPACG with control(χ~2=0.0064, P=0.936). Moreover, to combined genotypes analysis ofGSTT1and GSTM1, no significant differences were found in comparisonof4kinds of genotypes distributed in PACG (APACG and CPACG) withcontrol. Conclusion: In Han ethical group in the Chongqing area of China, nocorrelated relationship were found between null genotype of GSTT1andGSTM1and PACG susceptibility, moreover, no obvious polymorphismsassociation with susceptibility of PACG was found, furthermore, norelationship with PACG classification were discovered.
