Polygonum aviculare is the ground part of Polygonaceae Polygonum annual orperennial herbaceous plants (Polygonum aviculare L.), and it was distributed all over thecountry. Polygonum aviculare L. contain a variety of chemical constituents, such asflavonoids, phenylpropanoids, phenolic acids, amino acids, vitamin, carbohydrates, variouskinds of constant and trace elements, flavonoids are the main chemical compositions;Polygonum aviculare L. as traditional Chinese medicine, it have diuretic, antidiarrheal,diworming, antibacterial, diminish inflammation, antioxidant, blood pressure and proteceliver and other pharmacological effects.This article take Polygonum aviculare L. as test material, research the chemicalconstituents by various chromatographic methods, and study the antibacterial activities ofPolygonum aviculare L. by punch method; This experiment has achieved the followingmain results:1.10compounds were extracted, isolated and purified from Polygonum aviculare L.,and their structures were determined by means of NMR techniques. Compound1wasdetermined as methyl gallate; Compound2was determined as β daucosterol; Compound3was determined as kaempferol; Compound4was determined as quercetin; Compound5was determined as gallic acid; Compound6was determined as avicularin; Compound7was determined as quercitrin; Compound8was determined as myricetin3-O-(3’’-O-galloyl) rhamnopyranoside; Compound9was determined as myricitrin;Compound10was determined as juglanin. Methyl gallate and myricetin3-O-(3’’-O-galloyl) rhamnopyranoside were isolated from Polygonum aviculare L. for thefirst time, myricetin3-O-(3’’-O-galloyl) rhamnopyranoside was isolated fromPolygonaceae plants for the first time;2. It was found that the three parts of extracts (ether part, ethyl acetate part andn butanol part) all have antibacterial activities on the five tested bacteria (Escherichiacoli,enteropathogenic E.coli,Staphyloccocus aureus,Salmonella typhi,Shigelladysenteriae),and the activity is enhanced with increasing concentration of the extracts;10compounds were isolated and purified from Polygonum aviculare L., only Compound3(kaempferol), Compound4(quercetin),Compound5(gallic acid),Compound6(avicularin),Compound7(quercitrin),Compound8(myricetin3-O-(3’’-O-galloyl) rhamnopyranoside) have a certain degree of antibacterial activities, but not for the all tested bacteria.
