The "Golden Chamber" written by Zhongjing discusses the diseas e of thoracic obstruction in the piece of "thoracic obstruction the pai n of heart and shortness of breath",and has nine items about thoracic obstruction,and has made elaborate system about the etiology, pathoge nesis,therapy of thoracic obstruction,and become a relatively complete system of diagnosis and treatment,this is the first time a special disc ussion chest stuffiness disease,and laid a good foundation for future d octors.Zhongjing Zhang considers the pathogenesis of thoracic obstruction is "micro-yin yang chord",namely:the deficinecy in origin and excess in superficiality,the deficinecy of yang,the excess of yin.Yang qi should be unobstructed and not be filled up.Zhongjing mades the yangqi flow in heart and remove the pathogenic factors of blockage with the method of "relieving stagnation and promoting free flow of yang".This paper studies the theoretical basis of "relieving stagnation and promoting free flow of yang" and the rule of using medicine from the pathogenesis of thoracic obstruction,and experiences the dialectical thinking of "seeing a sign increasin a drug".Treating thoracic obstruction with this method in zhongjing, period,ign:yang deficinecy yin multiply; syndromes:chest tightness, chest pain, wheezing cough spit, short breath;representative prescriptions:Gualou Xiebai wine soup, Gualou Xiebai banxia soup, Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi soup; representative drug:Gualou Xiebai.This paper analyzes the drug’s composition, function, Fang Yi and modern pharmacological research of the three prescriptions, and prove that this three prescriptions are important prescription in treating thoracic obstrution and the scientific nature of the method of "relieving stagnation and promoting free flow of yang".This paper also conducted in-depth discussion about the tropism of taste、 efficacy、 modern research and drug’s combination of Gualou and Xiebai.Finally, selecting some cases which treat diseases with"relieving stagnation and promoting free flow of yang" to summarize,to find that future doctors has its own understanding about this method,and this method is not only widely used in treating thoracic obstruction,and also is used in treating phlegm, chest knot, the stomach and other diseases.Some modern physicians use this method to treat various "the deficinecy in origin and excess in superficiality"based on lots of clinical researches.This paper elaborates "relieving stagnation and promoting free flow of yang",and hoping that this method can provide a valuable reference for traditional chinese medicine clinically.
