Objective:To investigate the effects electro-acupuncture of the DU4Point on the IGF-1and biomechanics of the Osteoporosis rat models and explore the mechanism of treating osteoporosis with Electro-acupuncture of the DU4Points,To provide evidence for clinical acupuncture treatment of POMP.Methods:40SD female rats with3.5months old were randomly divided into Sham group,Model group,Western medicine group and Electro-acupuncture of the DU4group,each group was10.Except the Sham group rats were removed the same amount of fat tissue around the ovaries,the others were cut out bilateral ovaries in order to establish the postmenopausal osteoporosis model.After the rats model were made successfully,Electro-acupuncture of the DU4group were treated with Electro-acupuncture of the DU4using Dilatational wave (1mA,0-2Hz) for30min,once daily for3courses,each course was10days;Every500g rat in western medicine group was treated with2ml suspension liquid (25μg/ml) that was made with pentanoic acid estradiol tablets and normal saline;Model group and sham group were not intervened with acupuncture or intragastric administration.The length of all treatment was as long as the Electro-acupuncture of the DU4group.After treatment,The length of treatment was as long as the Electro-acupuncture of the DU4group.After treatment, The IGF-1and bone biochemistry of each group rats were detected by ELISA and three point bending test, respectively.Results:1.The comparison through the color image of bone trabecula:The bone trabecula were arranged regularly and close,distributed evenly for sham group; became thinner,fewer, wider with larger space in some parts for model group;2.Bone biomechanics’index of femur was measured:Compared with the model group, the level of maximum compressible load and breaking point load in sham, electro-acupuncture DU4group and Western medicine group were higher and significantly different (P<0.01). The level of the maximum compressible load and breaking point load between electro-acupuncture DU4group, Western medicine group and model group was not significantly different (P> 0.05).3.The level of IGF-1was detected:Comparison with the model group:the level of IGF-1in sham group, electro-acupuncture DU4group were higher and statistically significant compared(P<0.05);The level of IGF-1between electro-acupuncture DU4group,Western medicine group and sham group was not significantly different (P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The maximum compressible load load and breaking point load increases. It point out that electro-acupuncture DU4can strengthen bone strength, in order to cure postmenopausal osteoporosis.2.Electro-acupuncture at DU4in OVX rats-induced osteoporosis could increase the level of IGF-1to improve the purpose of promote the treatment of for postmenopausal osteoporosis.
