Background:Squamous cell carcinoma mainly found in the mucous membranes, skin or adnexal isan epithelial malignancies, It has become a major hazard to human health, because of itshigh degree of malignancy, metastasis and morbidity, Thus, squamous cell carcinoma hasbecome a pressing problem in the medical field. In recent years, study on the genetic levelhas become the focus of cancer research. TPX2and Aurora-A are both newly discoveredcancer gene in recent years, they all play significant roles in cells induced mitosis, centrosome maturation and spindle formation, they are also closely related to theoccurrence of tumor. So both of them has become new hot spots of Cancer Research. Objective:To investigate the expression of TPX2and Aurora-A in oral squamous cellcarcinoma(OSCC)and explore the significance of TPX2and Aurora-A in the prognosis andtreatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma.Methods:Choose61cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma as the experimental group and61cases of normal oral mucosa as the control group. Immunohistochemical staining wasused to detect the expressions of TPX2and Aurora-A. The determination of resultsdepends on the percentage of positive cells observed under a microscope. Results:The results of immunohistochemical staining show that, the expression rates of TPX2protein in normal mucosa and cancerous tissue were significantly different(P <0.05),respectively4.9%(3/61) and86.9%(53/61). The expression of TPX2protein was closelyrelated to the lymph node metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (P <0.05).The expression of Aurora-A protein in normal mucosa was significantly lower than in cancertissues(P <0.05), respectively3.3%(2/61) and72.1%(44/61). And with the Aurora-Aexpression level increasing, the possibility of malignant degree and lymph node metastasisin oral squamous cell carcinomas was also increasing, which had statistically significantdifference among groups (P <0.05). The expression of Aurora-A and TPX2had no relationwith tumor’s tumor size, tumor location, patient’s age, sex (P>0.05).Conclusion:1、The expression of Aurora-A in oral squamous cell carcinoma is significantly higherthan in normal tissue and it is closely related to tumor malignancy and lymph nodemetastasis (P <0.05). However,it has no direct relationship with tumor size, location, ageand sex of the patient. Over expression of Aurora-A may play an important role in theoccurrence and development of oral squamous cell carcinoma.2、The expression of TPX2in oral squamous cell carcinoma is significantly higherthan in normal tissue(P<0.05) and it is closely related to lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). However,it has no direct relationship with tumor malignancy, tumor size, location, age and sex of the patient(P>0.05). TPX2may play an important role in the occurrenceand development of oral squamous cell carcinoma.3、Aurora-A and TPX2showed a positive correlation in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Both may has a mutual promotion relationship in the occurrence and development of oralsquamous cell carcinomaTPX2and Aurora-A may play important roles in promoting the infiltration andmetastasis of mucosal epithelium in oral squamous cell carcinoma, and the relationshipbetween the two genes is collaboration and mutual promotion. United detection of TPX2and Aurora-A can be used as an important index in the early diagnosis and prognosis oforal squamous cell carcinoma.
