Wu Qiao is an important poet of the early Qing Dynasty. Since his first published book, Wei lu shi hua has attracted the concern of many scholars and poetics for it is an important theoretical work with unique points. This paper is oriented from Wei lu shi hua, containing following five areas:the life of Wu qiao, the theory of the Creating Poems, the development of poetry, the aesthetic characteristics of poetry, history of the development theory and critical practice. This paper has the purpose to present the core and the important points of Wu Qiao poetic theory orderly.Wu Qiao poetry is based on the "meaning" used to criticize the poets of Ming Dynasty.The words of their poems have no intention to expressing the real meaning. He also made new interpretations about the relationship of feelings and scene. He also bring out a more in-depth analysis of the aesthetic qualities of poetry。 He preferred poetry and non-secular utilitarian. He thought the poem used Bi Xing,"spring and Autumn" strokes and other expressions and has a subtle different aesthetic properties。He made a summary that text is like rice and poem is the wine, which is so well-known among that future generations. History of the development theory seized the two major factors which promotes the development of poetry: change and inheritance. Acting as a pioneer, Wu removed the remaining faults of the Ming poetry in order to open up clear and bright view of the early Qing poetry road for later scholars.
