Cultural Studies On Yan Geling From The Perspective Of Cross-media

With the extension and infiltration of media’s cultural influence, mass media have made aprofound impact on and even changing the production, spread and consumption of literature,which also has become an important cultural field of the development of literature and anoticeable power that literary study cannot ignore. Formation of consumer society and rapiddevelopment of mass media throw challenges to literature, thus resulting in many inevitablephenomena of the times, such as commercialization of literature and industrialization of writers.Therefore, it is biased and outdated to just carry out studies on the internal texts of literature.The thesis tries to make cultural studies on author Yan Geling from the perspective ofcross-media. It focuses on the literary texts from Yan’s novels and films, and also does someacademic researches on Yan Geling herself, regarding her as a literary text within current socialcontext. The study involves Yan Geling’s works (novels and films) and her attitude toward life.The first chapter discusses the crossover creation of Yan Geling；The second chapter startsform the “anti-literature-be-cinematographed” declaration of Yan Geling and analyzes Yan’sperplexities and anxieties when she shuttles back and forth between literature and films; Thethird chapter makes critiques on Yan Geling’s feminine standpoint and the female images of herworks, as well as the hypocrisy of her “anti-literature-be-cinematographed” declaration. Thethesis takes the cross-media study on Yan Geling as a case analysis, aiming at revealing thesurvival condition of authors in contemporary consumer society and ways on which literatureexists.
