In the1990s, Chinese society、economics and cultures were all exposure to an unprecedentedhistorical fission and transformation. The post-modernism, which urged in China for more than20years, has already evolved into a school of learning not questioned. Today, its impact hasalready spread to the arts and cultural sector and spread to the micro-film from traditional film.On the one hand, such a complex postmodern context provided cultural soil for the survival anddevelopment of the micro-film, On the other hand, postmodernism expressed and interpreteditself by means of cultural identities which revealed in the micro-film. With the study of culturaldimensions, not only be able to grasp the nature of the micro-film more deeply, but also to seeknew ideas for the development of micro-film.This article placed the micro-film under the postmodern context,based on Jamesonpostmodern theory and analyzed imaging features of micro-film in the framework of thepost-modernist culture including the sense of lacking meanings, the orgiastic sense whichdeconstructing sublime, the aesthetic form with nostalgic tendencies, the fragmented mosaic, thecultures with the popular tendencies. The article tried to show how was the postmodernism builtits own cultural factor into this cutting-edge phenomena of the micro film and on this basis tofurther explore four major problems impacting on the survival and development of themicro-film: the contradiction between the market and the audience, deconstruction andconstruction of paradox, copyright and management, professional and grassroots, and proposesolutions.
