This paper is a translation project report. It consists of four parts. First, it describesthe background, importance and reporting structure of the project. Second, it introducesthe background and stylistic features of the texts. Popular science text is characterizedby science, literature, popular and fun. Then, it makes a detailed description of thetranslation theory and strategies that should be taken in the process of the translationand introduces Reiss’s Theory of Text Typology and analyses the translation methodsfrom the aspects of headline, vocabulary and sentence. Finally, the author summarizesthe translation lessons, and reflects upon unsolved problems.Reiss divides texts into informative, expressive and operative texts according to theinformative function. Popular science text belongs to informative and operative textsand its special characteristics show that it should take the communicative translationstrategies so as to better meet the needs of readers.
