A Study On The Application Of Communicative Translation Strategy In The Translation Of Popular Science Texts

This paper is mainly focused on the "One Health" concept.Recently,due to the development of globalization and the repeated outbreaks of human and animal diseases,this concept has been given so much concern,especially in the field of public health."One Health" concept emphasizes that we should break disciplinary boundaries and original bondage,and to strengthen the cooperation,sharing and exchanging in various fields.Therefore,to put forward this concept is forward-looking and has practical significance.The whole paper is conducted on the basis of this translation project.Before starting to discuss the translation strategy,it is necessary to make clear about the text type of source text.From the perspective of source text itself,its content is easy to understand,its language is vivid and flexible in style,so it can generate remarkable power that achieve a smooth communication between the writer and readers.Besides,through a detailed analysis of literature review,the source text can be classified into the popular science text.In view of the great difference between the popular science text and scientific text,we cannot continue to use same translation strategy for all the scientific texts,and should employ corresponding translation strategy suitable for the popular science text.In this paper,according to Newmark's text typology,popular science text has the informative function and the vocative function,which is readers-oriented and focuses on the transmission of information.Therefore,in translation practice,the translator should take the communicative translation as a main strategy and the semantic translation as an aided strategy for the integration of the two strategies can help achieve the best effect of translation.In this paper,I start from my own experience of translation,and cite examples from three levels,namely,the vocabulary level,the sentence level and the textual level,to demonstrate the applicability of communicative translation strategy in the popular science text translation.I hope that this translation report can promote the theoretical study of popular science text translation and ultimately improve the quality of popular science text translation.
