The Task-based Language Teaching raised a research upsurge internationally inthe last decade. The Chinese teachers for foreigners are in this camp. Based on thebrief introduction to its development and the analysis of both its main theoreticalbasis and core concept, TASK, this study presents a series of problems andmisunderstanding in the practice of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL).With this followed, the problems are analyzed in order to find out how to keep thetask effective. A new concept of TASK is also raised at the last. That is a meaningfulactivity in which students are engaged.The main body of this study is composed of two parts, viewed in both macro andmicro, to analyze two impact factors of the task effectiveness. Except these, theintroduction part, Chapter One, shows the background of this study home and abroadas well as the research objectives on the base of the current situation; the peroration,Chapter Six, provides the conclusion that two crucial factors are mainly analyzed,which are the clarification of the basic concepts and the role’s definition of theteacher and students. A new concept as well as the reason of the Task-based Teachingapplication to the TCSL teaching is also presented.The first main body, Chapter Two and Three, presents the three theories of theTask-based Teaching and its core concept, TASK. This article tries to analyze thesetasteless words in a practical perspective and conclude some strategies of the taskeffectiveness. The second one, Chapter Four and Five, lists the major problems andmisunderstandings in the practice, defining the roles of the teacher and students afterthe analysis.
