With the enhancing of comprehensive national strength, more and more foreignlanguage learner have been enchanted by the instrumental function and culturalfascination of Chinese,then causing the trend of rush studying in Chinese universities.However cultural position of the Teaching of Chinese as a ForeignLanguage(TCFL),which hides under the “Chinese Fashion”,has also drawn much moreattention.Currently, in practice TCFL constantly chooses traditional cultural positions, whichare Language oriented and Communication skill—oriented. The thesis is an attempt thataims to break the traditional cultural positions and view the multicultural understanding asthe cultural position of TCEL, which is based on pluralized cultural-coexistence of thecultural value appealing in TCFL. The chapter one reaches a conclusion that the core ofmulticultural understanding is respecting diversity and difference based on the explanationof the definition and value of multicultural understanding. Chapter two proves thefeasibility of multicultural understanding in TCFL by analyzing the teaching level ofmulticultural understanding in practice TCFL. In chapter three and four, the thesisproposes the principles and practical methods of carrying out the multicultural understatingin TCFL. The thesis aims at establishing the concept of cultural tolerance and theawareness of multicultural understanding of the students in order to help them understandthe Chinese culture and contributes to the mutual development of different cultures.
