The customs of minority ethnic groups are unique habits of which a minority is different from others. A lot of the customs of ethnic minorities have been changed by the long-term national exchanges and integration, especially the television became widespread, many minority traditional customs had a subtle effect.A representative of the Miao traditional villages in Hubei Province is selected for this study, It starts with the six most distinctive customs, that is the national fertility, marriage customs, funeral customs, festivals and customs, ritual practices and Taboos.Finally, the findings of the study are gotten by visits, seminars, questionnaires, and television media as following:Firstly, the impacts of TV media on children, youth, women is comparatively large, especially children, they love TV programs much more than custom activities, and they are going away from traditional customs. But the elderly is a strong advocate of the customs.Secondly, the television media has changed the concept of time determined by the traditional customs; people are living in accordance with the planning time on TV.Thirdly, the television media has changed the inequality between men and women in traditional customs, which creates the atmosphere of a woman virtual presence.Fourthly, the television media create more custom symbols, and rich minority customs.Fifthly, the television media digest a lot of "collective memory" in the hearts of villagersSixthly, the television media expand the physical space and social space for villagers.
