The teleplays concerning minority increasingly prevails with special characteristics,playing a significant part in the Chinese teleplays. The thesis analyses the development and status quo of the teleplays of minority including Tujia and Miao teleplays. Like other Chinese teleplays, Tujia and Miao teleplays run their own way on the shadow of the development of Chinese teleplays, but it is hard for them to catch up the pace of the main Chinese teleplays.Many researches were made in the micro perspective concerning individual case study, productivity and geographic scope of minority teleplays and so on. Moreover, the relations between minority teleplays and cultural communication have been studied frequently. Minority teleplays plays a role as the platform conveying minority's culture. Audiences learn more about minority's culture through the minority teleplays, which is effective way to transmit minority's culture.Tujia and Miao teleplays are the parts of minority teleplays, displaying the lifestyle, history, conventions and customs in Tujia and Miao minority. Tujia and Miao teleplays are still in infancy in terms of current quantity, quality and materials, which matches the local economy and social status. People of other ethic group can be more familiar with Tujia and Miao culture and learn more about it. Meanwhile,local people will cultivate deeper cultural recognition. That's to say, teleplays is the very prominent form of transmitting and inheriting Tujia and Miao culture.Tujia and Miao teleplays covers the districts in Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, Guizhou and so on. The author has made tremendous endeavor to research the status quo and natives' recognition of Tujia and Miao teleplays through the method of in-depth interview and questionnaire. After analyzing and summarizing the information collected, the author demonstrates the hypothesis came up with before the research: Tujia and Miao teleplays are still in their infancy but with a bright future. And the natives are fond of their own teleplays and are willing to watch more likewise series presenting their natural scenery and their culture.The growth of Tujia and Miao teleplays partly depend on the supports of local government, both economically and politically, to stimulate the development of the TV industry and train more employees of teleplays. To achieve the goals of transmitting and inheriting Tujia and Miao culture through teleplays rely on the promotion of the local TV industry. At the same time, Tujia and Miao culture presented in the series must be clear and complete.
