| Being a treasure of Chinese national cultures, Beijing Opera is a very important form of arts that centers in variety show. It comes from life and always high above life. Through the performance, a real life is artistically presented, In modern times, Chinese composer creatively combine this form of art with piano and have produced many fine piano music with Beijing opera features. This creation not only promotes the continuation and development of traditional cultures, but also breaks new ground in the composition for Chinese piano music.In this paper, an analysis will be offered on the music works that were awarded first and second prize in the first Chinese Original Piano Music Contest. The author aims to discuss how to produce piano solos by taking Beijing opera as creation theme. There three chapters in the paper. In the first chapter, the author gives a summary and description on the features and music elements of Beijing Opera. Then, she introduces the Chinese piano works that have Beijing opera features in last hundred years and divide them into five styles and forms, namely etude, polyphony, solo, ensemble and piano accompany. In the next chapter, with case study on the "Pi Huang","Lost Dairy" and "Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo, Chou", the author researches and analyzes in details from many aspects like structure, tone, tonal, harmony and leimotiv, etc. Then she concludes the ways or methods that composers can use when combing Beijing Opera with piano. In the last chapter, the author tries to outline the artistic value that gained from combination of piano and Beijing Opera. She also realizes some problems that probably will occur during creation and gives some suggestions for composers’ reference. Finally, she talks about the trend of future piano music with Beijing Opera features and provides some advises for further study.This paper refers to the music analysis perspective and related approaches. The author takes aesthetic points into consideration during writing, hoping to get some constructive findings for the development of "Chinese style piano music" and Chinese piano study. |
