The purpose of Motivation Research is to find out the causes of human behavior. And the Motivation Theory is the explanation and argumentation of the initiation, maintaining, stimulation, restraint and choices of human behavior. With the development of the Motivation Theory and the Motivation Research, the theory and research of learning motivation are also in progress. And the latter is always an important field of the Educational Psychology research. In the process of teaching children after-hours piano, the ultimate goal of the piano teachers and the parents is to, by encouraging students to learn, make students happy lifetime learners who know how to adjust themselves and encourage themselves. Teachers and parents understanding and mastering the Cognitive Theory and knowing the methods of encouraging children to learn by the influence of the environment and education is of great significance for the development of the three parties. What’s more important is to apply the theory to the children’s piano learning practice because students’ learning motivations will change greatly with the increase of age, students’mental growth and the alteration of the learning environment and family environment. Therefore, we have to understand students’ learning motivation and the way to encourage them; otherwise, we can never deepen our understanding of the problems. And only by this way can we link the comprehending of children’s learning motivation with children’s education. In order to improve the efficiency of piano teaching, the piano teachers have used every conceivable method to evoke students’learning motivation. However, few of these teachers have any background of the professional knowledge about how to evoke students’learning motivation. Even if they have leant some, most of it is theoretical knowledge or about the operational skills of evoking motivation. Besides, the knowledge and skills are not based upon the features of children’s psychological development and most of them are practically groundless. Some piano teachers apply these theories to every student rigidly without even considering whether the teaching methods conform to the students’ characteristics or not. The target of this paper is the after-hours piano learners aging from6to8. Based upon the carding of the Cognitive Theory opinions of learning motivation, the CQR materialized research method is adopted to interview the children and parents. Then, according to analysis, these messages are classified into four fields:the factor of children, the factor of parents, the factor of teachers and the factor of authorized certification. In addition, the main opinions of every case in the same field are gathered together for cross-over study. And the common points are found and classified into different categories which are used as the basis to form corresponding coping strategies.
