With the development of the global economy, especially after China entering into WTO, more and more Chinese corporations involve in the international market. The relationship between Chinese corporations and international market is even more closely. As a stage to provide basic information for potential investors, customers and employees, and corporate profiles are increasingly important. Many Chinese corporations translate their corporate profiles into English, so as to attract more foreign cooperators.Successful corporate profiles enable the corporations to establish effective corporate image and credit. Cooperators will trust the corporation and establish business relationship to make business profit. Nowadays, most corporate profiles are literally translated into English versions from source text. They are difficult to understand for target readers and they cannot provide effective information and affect corporate image, impeding the business cooperation. Therefore, the study of corporate profiles Chinese-English translation under translation theoretical is beneficial to guide the translation practice and be more publicity.According to data collected, previous researches on Chinese-English translation corporate profiles have been done from the perspective of Functionalist Translation Theory, focusing on translation errors, strategies and results. Few researchers apply Adaptation Theory from the pragmatic perspective to their studies.Adaptation Theory was initially proposed by Jef Vershueren in1987, which is a pragmatic angle on people’s language use. Verschueren views that "using language has to contain the continuous making a linguistic choices, consciously or unconsciously, and these choices can be situated at any level of linguistic form".After study of definition and functions of corporate profiles, and the analysis of similarities and disparities of stylistic pragmatic between Chinese corporate profiles and English corporate profiles, the author applies Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as theory basis to study the process of corporate profiles translation. And points out that the translation should make adaptations in three aspects, such as linguistic conventions, mental world and social world, to comply with the rules of the target readers, to meet the emotion of target readers, and to accord with the target language’s cultural context. In order to give some inspiration to translation practice, the author works hard to establish some translation strategies in corporate profiles translation, so as to guide the translation of corporate profiles and to accelerate the development of corporations.
