In this thesis, Shuo, along with5Awo-related verbs, parentheses and discoursemarkers, was observed and their tfinctions on evidentiality were carefullydiscussed.And,the discourse marker Yi Jiang in Shanghai dialect which uses in anover-anticipative situation was thoroughly researched and discussed ofr its processand motivation of the formation as well as its evidentiality.The thesis contains6chapters as ofllows.In Chapter I,the purpose of the project, the current status of this research aspect,the theoires and methods used in this issue and the oirgin of the corpora wereintroduced.In chapter11,the grammaticalization and evidentiality of Shuo were observed, inwhich the function of the semantic and text of Shuo, together with the function of theevidentiality of Shuo, was mainly analyzed. Moreover, the pattern of ‘conjunction+Sh’uo was discussed. Thus the evidentiality of Shuo was stated rfom the convert andovert form of the vairation of Shuo in that pattern.In chapter III, the function of evidentiality of’ Wo/Ni Sh,uowas chiefly discussed.The influence on evidentiality of discourse marks from different personal pronounswas analyzed from the development of the semantic of ‘Wo/Ni Shuo" and its functionas discourse mark.In chapter IV,the evidentiality of5/ii/o-related words was discussed deeply.In chapter V,the common over-anticipative discourse mark Yi Jiang inShanghainese was observed. Not only the process and motivation of the formation ofYi Jiang was discussed, but its function in evidentiality was investigated as welLIn chapter VI,the main idea of this thesis was summairzed. Besides,theunsolved problems in the thesis were summed up and listed.
