Idiomatic language, also called vernacular, is an important part of Chinese culture. Teachers prefer to use it in order to make classes more lively and interesting, since it can improve the students’enthusiasm for learning. Idiomatic language consists of idioms, two-part allegorical sayings, proverbs, mottos, locutions and so on. All of them have a common feature:they are popular and easy to understand. Idiomatic language reveals the true breadth and profundity of Chinese culture. However, through an objective point of view, the spirit of some idiomatic expressions cannot be fully understood. Reading them literally can lead to a misinterpretation of idiomatic expressions. As a result, teachers are required to accurately understand idiomatic language. Under such circumstances, teachers will be able to teach students correctly.Using idiomatic language in teaching can promote the development of the Chinese language class.
