| With the dramatic development of economy, China’s foreign trade has been developing accordingly. Since our entrance into WTO, the relationship between China and the other countries has been getting closer and closer, the foreign trade and the technology cooperation bigger and bigger. In this process, foreign business correspondence, as a means of communication in international business, has play a crucial role in every link. Therefore, it is of great significance to discuss the English translation of Chinese trade correspondence.As a student majoring in translation, the author of the thesis has found it not easy to translate the Chinese trade correspondence, though there have been various kinds of Chinese trade correspondence translation practice. Therefore,a theoretical summary of it is needed.According to it,first of all, translators should make such full preparations as these:(1)making a deep inquiry into the current translation market,knowing what kind of translation task the translator goes to take, what specific demands such as time, quality and pay of the translation are,and knowing the credit-level of the company and signing a contract;(2)understanding the culture and the language features of the target language country,the readers’acceptability and translated text’s readability so as to decide what translation techniques should be flexibly used to produce accurate translated texts;(3)checking all kinds of data and names before finalizing a text to avoid mistakes. Based on author’s translation practice, this thesis reports and summarizes the experience of trade correspondence translation.In the current international market,no matter what kind of business it is,as long as it involves in import-export,we can not go without the trade correspondence. Consequently, the position of the translation of the trade correspondence is becoming more and more significant,and its role as a bridge connecting the subjective side and the object side more and more outstanding.As a bridge connecting buyers and sellers, the trade correspondence,if translated correctly, will contribute to the success of trade. From this point of view, the translation of the trade correspondence,though not decisive in the foreign trade activity,will exert great influence on the international trade.If we want to translate the trade correspondence excellently,we should pay more attention to the stylistic features as well as these important points such as various data,time,place and so on.Taking into account these factors,the thesis chooses three kinds of trade correspondence-pharmaceuticals industry,home furnishings,and industrial products-as cases to illustrate how to translate well trade correspondence.The purpose is to describe clearly systematically how the translation of trade correspondence should be well done so as to ensure the better quality of the translation of trade correspondence. |
