The combination of translation studies with feminism is based on the similarity of their inferior position of women in society and translators in translation. Thus, feminist translation theory aims to show the feminist translators’ identity through the language and translation, speak for women and make women seen and heard through translation. It is a dynamic and open theory, as it absorbs the essence of some other literary theories, such as feminism, deconstructionism, and formalism. It provides a new perspective for traditional translation theory and brings fresh blood to the translation field. Its contribution can’t be doubted. However, its radical ideas and practice in translation also draw much criticism from both inside and outside of the feminism camp.By the end of last century, feminism began to be introduced into China. The thesis will analyze the acceptance and practice of this new translation theory. Of course, there are advocates, supporters and critics. How can such a controversial theory in the West countries adapt to the Chinese context as the people in China are much milder and more conservative under the influence of Chinese traditional culture? How is its acceptance and development in China? All these questions will be answered in this thesis in detail. Some scholars still doubt whether there is feminism in China. Owing to the different historical background, traditional culture and folk custom, there is almost no one who can claim herself as feminist. But with the reform and opening up, a lot of foreign theories are introduced to China, including feminist translation theory. Such radical translation theory attracts more and more scholars’attention in China. It finally finds a way to fit the Chinese context and forms its own style in China gradually. With the further comprehensive studies on this theory, feminist translation practice will be well accepted with its Chinese characteristics.Through the analysis of the translated works of a female translator, Zhu Hong, with feminist consciousness, the thesis draws its conclusion that the situation and development of feminist translation in China:the radical feminist translation theory and practice turn out to be more sophisticated with less political purposes, more delicate, emotional and sensitive. One of the most obvious characteristics of Chinese feminist translation practice is their attitude to fidelity, as Chinese female translators translate with their creativity which seems not loyal but faithful to the intentions of the author indeed actually. Feminist translation has finally found its way to fit for Chinese context and developed its unique translation style. It is certain that feminist translation will come to the main stream of translation field with the efforts of female translators and the support of the society in China.
