On Feminist Novels From Feminist Translation Theory

The thesis is divided into two parts. The translation part is selected from Chapter22and Chapter23of Australian writer Liz Byrski’s novel, Food, Sex&Money. The main issue is the friendship among three middle-aged women--Bonnie, Fran and Sylvia. Their personal lives and confusion about family, work and emotion are also involved in this chapter.The critical review first introduces the concept of feminist translation theory, which focuses on gender difference and cultural awareness. The theory becomes popular in the field of translation because feminist consciousness has been fully wakened up and become a strong force in the world. Second, under the guidance of feminist translation theory, the techniques such as rewriting and preserving have been adopted in translating Chapter22and Chapter23of the novel Food, Sex&Money. During the process, the translator has shown her own perspective and her ideas about feminism.
