A Study On The Translation Of Culture-loaded Words Of Ethnic Groups

With the increase in cross-cultural communication, the culture of the Chinese national minorities is introduced to the entire world. That is, translation of national minorities’culture is more and more important. As we know, there is a close link among culture, language and translation. Different cultures are contained in different languages. No culture, no language. Therefore, lots of culture-loaded words can be found in the texts which are related to the culture and folk-custom. The translator just translated three texts:the introduction of the Mongolia, Manchu and Ewenki. Later, in the report, the translator analyzes and classifies the translation methods of culture-loaded words of ethnic groups.The report is divided into four parts:first, the source texts and the meaning of translation are introduced. Second, culture-loaded words are introduced, and it is classified into three types, that is, culture-loaded words related to material, idea and behavior. Third, this is the most important part of the translation report. Namely, the translation methods of culture-loaded words are analyzed in this part. The translation methods are summarized under the guidance of principles of translation and dynamic and formal equivalence by examples. What’s more, the translator respectively summarizes translation methods of vacant culture-loaded words, proper noun and so on. Fourth, translation experience is summarized.It can be seen that translation, as a tool of inter-language communication, is not only language transformation, but also the process of cultural transmission. As a translator, we have to fully understand the source texts, and then try our best to transmit culture. That is the significance to analyze and classify the translation methods of culture-loaded words of ethnic group.
