This commentary discusses the translation of culture-loaded words from the perspective of Liu Miqing's culture translation expression theory. The original text is The Nature of Alexander written by the well-known English writer Mary Renault. The words in the original text are exquisite, concise and powerful. And the study of culture-loaded words translations, which are the most challenging part in translation can work as a crack to explore strategies adopted in translation.Under the guidance of culture expression theory, this thesis focuses on ethnic culture mentality, culture information and language style in the original text, and discusses how to deliver the exact meaning of culture-loaded words by considering context, respecting reader acceptability and retaining the original style from aspects of semantics, pragmatics and aesthetics. The assessment of culture-loaded words translation samples can help to understand strategies adopted in different situation. When the words contain historical, regional and social culture information, the translation can be accurate and meaning-oriented;when the culture mentality of words differs from that of the targeted readers, the methods of explanation, substitution and decoloration can be applied to fulfill pragmatic redressing;when the words follow the style of author, the translation can be aiming to provide readers a better aesthetic experience. So analyzing the translation of culture-loaded words from the perspective of culture expression theory not only is not only a guiding theory in the whole translating process, but also works as a practical method.
