Since it was born, TV series have been played the role of the narrator. TV seriescan not only use the camera, scene, sound, montage and other audiovisualtechnologies to create a realistic picture, which contain scenes and plots, but alsoperforms a completed story rhythmically in vast space of capacity. It is worth tonotice that with the blur between refined and popular tastes, as well as the continuousaesthetic improvement of audiences, TV series which only rely on narrative can’tmeet audiences needs now. Odd narrative is just a starting point to win audiences, rather than the goal of conquering audience. As one kind of medias, with the mostpopular form, TV series own the widest audiences. For TV series, only contain seriousor delicate and profound contents, and try to find a "coincide" between artisticattributes and aesthetic summon can they really touch the hearts of the audiences andform a dialogue with the audiences. But how to achieve this goal?I thought the "Yijing" in Chinese classical literature is a good way to reach thegoal.“Yijing” is a product of Chinese civilization, as the core areas of Chineseclassical aesthetics, since in Tang Dynasty, the pursuit of “Yijing” has been thehighest aesthetic standards of classical arts. And the researches on “Yijing” haveshowed updated look with the times changing. As the meaning of “Yijing”, I hold thatMr. Ye Lang made the most comprehensive and the most compatible definition amongall the scholars. Mr.Ye broke limitations of the traditional saying that emotions andscenes were consisted of “Yijing” together, he believed the meaning of “Yijing”should be: In literary and artistic works, receivers surpass the specific, limited images, events, scenes, and enter a infinite time and space, at last get a philosophical feelingsand comprehension toward whole life, history and the universe. In this way, Yijingsurpasses poetry and drawings, extends from emotions, scenes and things to emotions, scenes, things and events. Besides scenes, events and spots can also creat Yijing byartistic means. So it become possible to creat Yijing in TV series. Owing to diversityof audiovisual languages, wide spaces of themes and humanity of scripts, TV serieshave a wider performance space for “Yijing” than poetry and drawings. In recent years, the appearance of "Big Residence","Through into Northeast","Palace of Desire","Lost in a Moment","Oranges Turned Red"," VicissitudesCourses of uprightness","Golden Wedding" and "A Dream of Red Mansions"(directed by Li Shaohong) have shown that TV series workers’ explorations andefforts in “Yijing”, especially "A Dream of Red Mansions" which came out in2010.Through the classical and exquisite pictures, beautiful sounds and vivid special effects,it not only showed a noble family tragedy, but also conveyed the profound insights onlife and eternal philosophical enlightenments. This works became a new peak amongthe exploration of “Yijing” in Chinese TV series. But at the same time, we also seethat there still exsits some problems in the field of TV series’“Yijing”: single form, advocating feminine aesthetics while ignoring masculine aesthetics; failing to dig into“Yijing” deep enough in type TV series; performance practices are too insipid to fullyutilize audio-visual languages funtions; failing to joint the "elegant" of “Yijing” andthe “popular” of narrative so that lose a great number of audiences. So how to makefull use of audio-visual languages to create and convey “Yijing”to the audiences? Andhow to strike a balance between the pursuit of “Yijing” and win high audiencesratings? This paper aims to combine the current status quo of TV series “Yijing” and theexisting academic research results. Chapter One tries to answer the above questions, dig into meaning, composition and generation mechanism from TV series’ specialfeatures. In Chapter Two targeting different types of TV series, I analysed differentforms for “Yijing”, and made feasible suggestions on how to perform scenes andenlightments. To make my paper more persuasive, I chose "A Dream of RedMansions" directed by Li Shaohong as a study case in Chapter Three, making aanalysis of performance and generating mechanisms of “Yijing” from angles ofcharacter modeling, costumes and props, picture compositions, camera languages, special effects, music, and other means of TV technologies.
