Representations And Generative Mechanisms Of Non-propositional Meaning Of Declarative Sentence

Propositional meanings of declarative sentence have been studied deeply andbroadly. While very few studies have looked at non-propositional meanings ofdeclarative sentence. Five kinds of non-propositional meanings of declarative sentenceare acquired in this thesis. Each Non-propositional meaning of declarative sentence hasits special representation according to special syntactic component and itscorresponding mechanisms. The different representations of non-propositionalmeanings are analyzed and summarized then the corresponding mechanisms are derived.The thesis returns the discovery that non-propositional meaning is the sentence meaningwhich is affected by contextual and attitudinal elements. The context of text requiresconsistent and compact. Different scenarios and cultural backgrounds require differentforms of expression. Human not grammar is the main factor which decides the form oflanguage expressing. Language is peculiar to mankind. Language is the subjectiveresponse of the objective world. Language skills are training after they are born.Different levels and different cultural context determine people’s forms of expression.
