The film is a modern art form which record and display the social life with image and sound. Homosexuality has been the social reality for a long time, so it naturally becomes the showing and recording object of the film. Counting from the "wings" in1916, the Lesbian and Gay film has nearly a hundred years history. The film as a form of mass communication medium is an effective means of communication for the mainstream social culture to contact the homosexuality subculture. The research of the homosexuality community’s media image is also necessary, which can not only provide a spiritual guideline for young homosexuals, as well as help to promote communication and understanding between mainstream society groups and homosexuality community, so as to promote the realization of homosexuality community’s identity in the society.The thesis combed the context of the development of China and the United States Lesbian and Gay film and analysis of the similarities and differences in these films. The thesis also analysis its impact on the shaping of the media image of the homosexuality community; Finally, selected audience comments of the representative sample movie by the content analysis method for further research. Innovatively classified the audience reviews according to their mood and use ROST software reviews high-frequency vocabulary statistics to analyze the audience interpretation and audience focus of the media image shaping by the movie. Explore the actual impact of the homosexuality community media image shaping by the movie on the audience.The thesis found China and the United States Lesbian and Gay film have common ground while also showing a significant difference. The media image of the gay community shaped by the China and the United States Lesbian and Gay film has its own characteristics. The audience research of the sample movie found that the media image of the homosexuality community shaped by movie has a significant impact on audience awareness. Although the media image of the homosexuality community shaped by movie does not fully conform to the true homosexuality community, but for heterosexual audience, the film is the main way to understand the homosexuality community. The heterosexual audiences tend to directly link the media image of the homosexuality community shaped by movie to the reality. The positive media image of the homosexuality community will have a positive impact on the audience; the audiences tend to make more positive reading for the homosexuality community. Watch the Lesbian and Gay film will promote the audiences to understand the homosexuality community, even change part of the audience’s opinion on the homosexuality community, gives more sympathy and tolerance. Therefore, pay attention to the media image of the homosexuality community construction can promote the communication and understanding between mainstream society groups and homosexuality community, so as to promote the realization of homosexuality community’s identity in the society.
