Folk song is alive in people’s oral literature, which has the strong folk character and has always beenat the edge of the country, so that it still retains the free character and is little intervened by the ideology。But after the foundation of the PRC, folk song became the mainstream of the china literature and was paidunprecedented attention. The New Folk Song was commended as “the rudiment of the communismliterature” and “the best poem of the socialism era”. Especially The New Folk Song Movement in1958, itwas pushed to the acme. As the comprehensive expression of the folk song in1958,“Red Flag Ballad” wassought after by all men as soon as it was published. Due to the excessive intervention of the ideology,“RedFlag Ballad” lost the folk character and was highly politicized. Therefore it has important research value.This essay is divided into four chapters and starts from” Red Flag Ballads”. The introduction part, a“RED Flag Ballad” carries on the simple introduction, defines pseudo folk character, summarizes theresearch status of “Red Flag Ballad”, and illustrates the research purpose and significance of this paper.chapter one, the content of” Red Flag Ballad” and traditional folk songs is different. These differencesreflect the pseudo folk character of “Red Flag Ballad”. It is divided into three sections. Through thechanges of the content such as the subject praised, the labor, the love and the marriage, the chapter oneexpresses the pseudo folk character of “Red Flag Ballad”. In chapter two, the essay describes the languageof “Red Flag Ballad”. It is divided into two sections about Politicization of language and the exaggerationof language. In chapter three, the important imageries of “Red Flag Ballad”. It is divided into sectionsabout the image of the sun and red flag with political color. In chapter four, the essay describes the causesof emerging the pseudo folk character. It is divided into two sections about the surface reasons and theunderlying reasons. The surface reasons: the first, the Anti-Rightist Struggle Magnified and the Great LeapForward; the second, Mao Zedong advocated and paid great attention to the folk song. The underlyingreasons: the first, the advocacy and the organization of the government; the second, the change of thecreative subject; the third, the adding fuel to flames of the literati (intellectuals). The first two chaptersdescribe the pseudo folk character of《Red Flag Ballads》through the changes of its content and form. Thethird chapter deeply analyses the reasons of emerging the pseudo folk character. The conclusion part has carried on the summary and the brief summary to this article.
