| The postmodern painting in the western countries stands free from the constraintand bound from modern art and changes the unidirectional bias of the modern artfrom both the concept and form (Henrickson L；McKelvey B,2002). It inclusiveness,complexity and contradictoriness give people various opinions and viewpoints aboutit. However, the fact that it does not advocate the declaration and slogan and notemphasize on certain cultural direction but provide and advocate free choice fromvarious means of artistic expression manifests greatly the natural and real innatecharacter of the artistic creation. In this essay, it aims to give a profound andcomprehensive discussion about the new painting in the form of postmodernism. Atthe very beginning, it gives a general description about the appearance of thepostmodern painting. After that, five aspects of the characteristics of the postmodernpainting are clarified one by one.
