| Before and during World War I, development of modern artstarted to bloom inparis, breaking free of the traditional shackles. Modigliani, one of the most famousartists in the twentieth centxy, however, seemed to stay out of such trend ofavant-garde. He insisted on traditional art practice and finally developed an ideal artform which combined classicism and modernist.In his very short life, Modiglianiseldom involved himself in paintings of still life. Instead, it was portraiture and nudethat composed his entire oeuvre with only four landscapes.Consideirng all what mentioned above, this thesis tried to summairze thedistinctive art forms developed by Modigliani and to illustrate their correspondingspiritual content based on observation of Modigliani’s works through comparison andinductive analysis. |
