This paper set the historical background from the latter half of the19th centuryto the early20th century, through the core of Taylor’s managementthoughts—Standardized Management Pattern—to study Taylor’s managementthoughts. The study included the historical background of the emergence, the maincontent, the significance and impact of the management thoughts.The full text contained five parts.The preface concisely narrated the reason of the proposed topic, research statusat home and abroad, the methods and innovation of the research, several basicconcepts, and the main content.The first chapter described the historical background of Taylor’s managementthoughts, and divided into three sections. The first section discussed the completion ofthe American Industrial Revolution and the generation of monopoly capitalism,focused on the tremendous changes in the field of management. These changes werenot only demanded to transform the old management system into scientificmanagement system, but also called for new management talents, and advancedmanagement philosophy that can adapt to the development of the industrial age. Thesecond section described Taylor’s life, emphasized on Taylor’s special experience,and the scientific inquiry he made. Taylor will be the best candidate to promote themanagement reform. The third section introduced the management thoughts andpractice that prior to Taylor. Taylor’s management thought has inherited the essenceof these management theory and practical experience of the previous. If there is noprevious theoretical as the foundation of Taylor’s thought, Taylor would not be ableto complete the era the mission entrusted to him.The second chapter described the main content of Taylor’s management thoughts,including three sections. This part focused on the core of Taylor’s managementthought "standardization". The first section introduced the "standardization" on theoperating level, including making rational work quota through time and motion study,choosing "first-class man", standardizing the work environmental conditions,implementing excitant wage system. The second section discussed the"standardization" on the organizational level, including the partition of planningfunctions and the performance functions, functional foremanship, and "exception principle". The third section expounded the key of "standardization", that to make anideological revolution between employers and employees. The ideological revolutioncontains changing the attitude towards surplus, maximizing the labor productivity;replacing scientific experience, cooperation instead of confrontation.The third chapter discussed the theoretical significance of Taylor’s thought andreality effects, divided into two sections. The first section described the impact ofTaylor’s management thought on the establishment of management, and theemergence of personnel management, the development of Western classicalmanagement theory, and other related disciplines. The second section gave an accountof the positive impact of the Taylor management thought on the world economicgrowth, social transformation.The peroration firstly listed some negative impacts of the Taylor’s managementthoughts, and then combined with the current situation in China, explained that westill need to study and utilize Taylor’s management thoughts. Taylor’s managementtheory will always keep strong vitality.
