A Study For Zheng Zhirong’s Skills Of Vocabulary Stylistics In His Poetries

Zheng Zhirong was born in Okcheon County of CHUNGCHEONGBUK-DO in1903. In1926, he had his maiden work French Cafe published on the ma gazine Xue Chao, and began literature activities. Mr. Zheng focused o n imagism and showed people a literary world that was about to grasp modernism. From his works, people could see that they were abandoning flavor of Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, which dominated the first stag e of Korean poetry in20th century, and substituted it with modernism style. Mr. Zheng’s main poetry collections include Poetry Anthology of Zheng Zhirong (1935), White Deer Pond (1941), Zhirong Poetry Selec tion (1946) and Collected Works of Zheng Zhirong (1988).This article studies104poetrics of Zheng Zhirong. From the Styl istics point of view, it applies Statistical Analysis and Meaning Ana lysis to analyze Zheng Zhirong’s skills of vocabulary stylistics.With Statistical Analysis to Color Terms, Onomatopoeia Words and three aspects of Pure Korean, Chinese-originated Words and Hybrid Wor ds, this text has its conclusion as below:Firstly, it makes analysis through dividing Pure Korean color ter ms into5basic colors including red, blue, yellow, black and white a nd other ones. Expression meaning of each color term is studied by il lustration.In104poetries of Zheng Zhirong, basic color terms are used150times in all. White color system59times with highest percentage of39.33%; secondarily is blue color system34times with22.67%; red co lor system33times with22%listed on third and the fourth is black color system13times with8.67%; the lowest is yellow color system w ith11times and it takes only7.33%. In general, white color system appears the most in Zheng Zhirong’s poetries while the least ones ar e black and yellow color system.Secondly, function and expression meaning of Onomatopoeia Words a re studied with those104poetries of Zheng Zhirong. In the first pla ce, it gives statistics of frequency number and frequency of Onomatop oeia Words from the aspect of phonetics. In the second place, it anal yzes the effect in the articles with classification method.The Onomatopoeia Words in Zheng Zhirong’s poetry are as below:s ingle syllable Onomatopoeia Words appear2times, two-syllable ones27times, three-syllable ones9times, four-syllable ones38times, si x-syllable ones3times, seven-syllable, eight-syllable and twelve-sy llable ones each once, among which it is common to see being used as adverb. However, just like the words’-(?)’,’-(?)’ and ’(?)’, whose suffix may connect word roots, Collected Works of Sejong curre ntly has a great part of suffix connected words marked as verbs. That is, this type of cases can be constantly seen in Zheng Zhirong’s po etry,18times in total.Thirdly, analyze and study Pure Korean, Chinese-originated Words and Hybrid Words in104poetries of Zheng Zhirong. In the first secti on it classifies and counts the words from the whole language section of Zheng Zhirong’s poetry. In the second section, it studies stylis tic feature of Pure Korean Words in his poetry. The third section cla ssifies Chinese-originated Words into8categories and studies their expression meanings in detail. The fourth section makes analysis and research of Hybrid Words.In conclusion, there are5675language sections in104Zheng Zhir ong’s poetries, including4814Pure Korean Words with frequency of84.83%,696Chinese-originated Words with frequency of12.26%and91H ybrid Words with frequency of1.6%. The number of Chinese-originated Words in Korean vocabulary system is more than Hybrid Words. However, judging from the number and frequency of Pure Korean Words used by Z heng Zhirong, his whole works are blended into more national inherent emotions and hence reflects the native charm of folk-custom.
