The development of Korean Peninsula has been affected by Chinesecultural, political, economic and military affairs since ancient times. Theestablishment of diplomatic relations between China and North Korea aswell as South Korea has promoted the exchanges in such fields aseconomy, politics and education.The majority of people in Korean Peninsula have been learningChinese characters which were borrowed by Korean Peninsula as writtensymbols in ancient times. Under the influence of historical changes anddiversified internal and external factors, however, these Chinesecharacters have developed into those with distinct Korean characteristics.Thus, Chinese-originated words in Korean were developed.In1945, along with the split of Korean Peninsula into People’sDemocratic Republic of Korea and Republic of Korea, the language wasdeveloped into Korean which regarded the common speech of PyongyangMandarin and that in the district near Seoul of Gyeonggi-do as thestandard respectively. Although the language has been divided, they sharethe same root and have the same letters, grammars and morphemes. Inthis paper, language used in North Korea is regarded as the same with thatused in South Korea. However, it cannot be denied that compared withSouth Korean language, there are few loan words in North Koreanlanguage which is affected by social development. Therefore, the researchon North Korean language is much more targeted. Due to limitedconditions, however, the author mainly focused on the language appliedin North Korea and Korean nationality in China.The origin and structure of Chinese-originated words in South Korea,the investigations and the questionnaire for Korean students, according tothe data analysis, Chinese-originated words have positive transfer toSouth Korean students when they learn Chinese. However, at the same time, there is a large degree of negative transfer.According to the conclusion on negative transfer, in the future’steaching, we should make good use of mother tongue positive transfer ofKorean students, and to avoid negative transfer when they learn Chinese.Teachers should be combined with the actual situation of the classroomteaching, use reference books correctly and make some improvements onthe Chinese character teaching for the Korean Peninsula students.
