Discussion Of The Lotus Decoration In The Northern Dynasties

This paper mainly discusses the archaeological research of lotus decoration in the Northern Dynasties which is from a.d.386to a.d.581.Western Zhou Dynasty, lotus has been as a decorative pattern, and has been retained today. Lotus decoration has formed a certain characteristics and style since the Han Dynasty. Buddhism spread to China in the Eastern, Han Dynasty which brought a large number of foreign cultures. Lotus decoration are affected and changed by the influence.In this context, lotus decoration of the Northern Dynasties is widely decorated on cave temples, buildings, tombs, objects, etc. Because of the intervention of India Buddhist lotus decoration, the lotus decoration not only in style has great changes, but also be given more meanings. In this paper which on the basis of previous research results aiming at the shortage and does some deep discussion of the Northern Dynasties of the lotus decoration. The full text is divided into four parts:First, the significance and the present situation of lotus decoration, understanding the results of previous studies, preparing for the application; second, application of the lotus decoration in the Northern Dynasties period; third, classify the lotus decoration which based on the archaeological data and according to the style and different position of lotus decoration; fourth, further analysis of different characteristics in different periods of progress of lotus decoration on the basis of previous research.According to the classification and application of lotus decoration, I analyze the lotus decoration in the Northern Dynasties from two lines of the original lotus decoration and India Buddhist lotus decoration, the reason of spreading form symbolic meaning and the combination of the lotus decoration and other decoration.Through the analysis of the above several parts, the paper tries to do some more in-depth understanding of the Northern Dynasties of lotus decoration.
