It plays an important role in the history of academy to discover the Hidden Library in the Mogao grottoes. In the view of the Unauthorized Graphics of China, thousands of manuscripts found in the Mogao grottoes not only reappear the feature of the Chinese characters during the Wei, Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties and Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties, but also provide rich corpus for us to perfect and build up the theory of the Unauthorized Graphics of China. For historical reasons, the documents discovered in Dunhuang and Turfan are collected by different institutes and individuals, which caused many difficulties for us to take advantage of these documents. In order to study these documents, the photocopies of these manuscripts are offered by most museums, including Dunhuang and Turfan Manuscripts Collected in Shanghai Museum.This dissertation mostly studied the unauthorized characters exisit in the Buddhist manuscripts based on the the book of Dunhuang and Turfan Manuscripts Collected in Shanghai Museum. The dissertation consists of four parts. Chapter one mainly counted the number of the unauthorized characters on the premise of clear definition and standard to judge a unauthorized character exist in the Buddhist manuscripts whose written date can be sure, dynasties the scripts belong to based on the. In this chapter, three characteristics of unauthorized characters are summarized. Firstly, the proportion of the unauthorized characters is high and some unauthorized characters are used repeatedly. Secondly, the.usages of the unauthorized characters are differential in the diachronic view. Thirdly, the unauthorized characters and the standard characters are occurred simultaneously in a same Buddhist manuscript. In the second chapter, the writer mainly interprets some unauthorized characters that are not included in the Dictionary of Dunhuang Unauthorized Characters, based on the classification of the unauthorized characters. In the third chapter, the author lists the unauthorized characters that formed because of the similar and the mixed components of the characters. In the forth chapter, it is expounded the values of the arrangement of the documents, the compilation of the dictionaries, and the formation of the perfect theory of the Graphics of China to study the unauthorized characters, taking the example of the study of the unauthorized characters that occurred in the Buddhist manuscripts which collected in Shanghai Museum.The dissertation studies the usage of the unauthorized characters occurred in the Buddhist documents that collected in Shanghai Museum, offering the help to compile the Tripitaka of Dunhuang. |
