The manuscripts collected in Dunhuang grottoes,with abundant details.play an important role in the study of the academic world of Dunhuang.The experts and scholars collect all the manuscripts of Dunhuang as well as some out of Dunhuang stored in eleven units of Gansu province,which include696culture relics stored in,for example,the Institude of Dunhuang and the Museum of Dunhuang City.A11the manuscripts are finally compiled into six volumes of the Dunhuang manuscripts collected in Gansu.They are of great worth in the study of languages and characters.the version and collating of documents and also the fields of geography and history.This dissertation mostly studied the unauthorized characters exist in manuscripts stored in two different parts, the Mediaeval times and Tang.which based on the the book of Dunhuang Manuscripts Collected in Gansu. The writer’s main study consists of two parts. First of all, the writer compare the unauthorized characters exist in manuscripts stored in the Mediaeval times and Tang with those stored in contemporary character books.The compare are of great worth.It helps people to find the real,complex and free use of characters.Besides,it can also reflect the class of editors.Next, the writer also study the characters with similar shapes.According the above study,people can not only correct the errors of contemporary researchers,but also rich the fields of the unauthorized characters and promote the study of ancient books.Finally, the writer interprets some unauthorized characters and slang words,to reflect the contemporary real face of characters.
