Language learning environment is a quite important factor for studying outcome because any form of study occurs in a definite environment which also affects study. In China, most English learners are surrounded by their native language environment, and they lack a natural target language learning environment. On the other hand, a long-term traditional mode of English education often makes learners feel uninterested in English, and they even express an emotion of lassitude and boredom. To make up this deficiency is a great challenge for Chinese English education to face with at the present time. This research is a case study on English majors who are studying in the Department of Foreign Languages in Northwest A&F University, and it applies the questionnaire quoted from the famous English Classroom Environment Assessment Scale designed by Prof. Sun Yunmei, working in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which includes9dimensions:student cohesiveness, teacher support, involvement, task orientation, student cooperation, equality, student responsibility, leadership and innovation to do further study on classroom learning environment for English majors, to discover and analyze the existed problems, and to explore a new class concept which is beneficial for English learning efficiency and students’overall development.This research applies factor analysis to combine the nine dimensions to into three main factors:student initiative, student cooperation in class and teaching in class to measure the current situation of classroom learning environment for English major in Northwest A&F University in a quantitative way, but also applies student interview to investigate student’s opinion to their classroom learning environment, in order to give an objective evaluation to classroom learning environment for English majors in Northwest A&F University.Results of data analysis reveal:(1) Viewing from the explanation to construct an abundant classroom learning environment under constructivism perspective, classroom learning environment in The Department of Foreign Languages in Northwest A&F University is ample on the whole.(2) Teacher’s teaching methods, teaching manners, interaction with students in class and teacher’s innovation have the most prominent influence on classroom learning environment for English majors in Northwest A&F University.(3) Student cooperation and cooperative sense are also quite important elements. Besides, based on the results, constructive suggestions are given from perspectives of teacher, students and building up harmonious relationship between teacher and student respectively.
