Memetics is a kind of new rules which bases on the ideas of Darwinian theory to explain the evolution of culture. While meme which means the imitated things in Greek is a kind of culture unit, which can be spread from one host to another one by imitation and duplication in the society. Memetics has gradually become an independent discipline and been applied to many kinds of subjects, such as psychology, pragmatics, philosophy and translatology. The person who first combined memetics with translatology is Chesterman, he created his own theory about translation of memes, which help scholars around the world usher in the new period of translatology.Consecutive Interpretation, the most normal form of interpretation, which is featured with nonce, on-site and limited time, is to convey the information to audience from source language to target language. The evaluation criterion of interpretation is different from translation whose quality is judged by its faithfulness expressiveness and taste according to the well-known theory of Gale’s effort-model. Thus, interpreters often come across sudden pauses because of blur note-taking, finding appropriate expression, repeated expression, hesitation, nervousness and so on. The four steps of successful duplication of memes each with processes of interpretation during this process. Therefore, this paper tries boldly to explain sudden pauses of interpretation from the perspective of memetics and from my personal experiences of interpretation with the hope of improving quality of interpretation.
