Chinese traditional music has over five thousand years of history, with each of its different regions developing their own individual musical styles. During most of this time, the cultural exchanges between each of these regions have been almost non-existent, which makes Chinese traditional music one of the most diverse in the world. This rich background provides not only vast opportunities for research, as well as contributes to making Chinese traditional music an important part of world music itself. On the other hand, the development of modern Western music after the20th century has been extremely fast, introducing several new styles over a very short time. But even though there were so many new styles created in a single century, many of these styles still derived from traditional music. Chinese composers should also think about utilizing traditional music elements when composing their own modern pieces.The two main object of this thesis topic "Chinese traditional music language" and "Chinese modern composition" are two very broad scope of the study. Chinese traditional music, languages due to their cultural background, focus of the same characteristics of their music mainly lies in the melody, rhythm, timbre, and other characteristics, and thus the research papers focused on the characteristic of the works of melody, rhythm characteristics and tone characteristics. This paper to study the works of modern music in China is mainly concentrated in the modern music works Wenjing Guo, Wenchen Qin too. Chose two works as research subjects, mainly due to the first two of which are enjoyed in the international music composer of some reputation and status, select two works study can have a certain theoretical research value; Secondly this duo works with a strong ethnic flavor, it is not difficult to find his works with a strong, unlike the musical language of the individuality of the works of Western music, and thus research works in this two representatives and research value.This thesis consists of two chapters, language characteristics of Chinese traditional music, mainly characterized by the melody, the rhythm characteristics and tone characteristics Wenjing Guo’s and Wenchen Qin’s two works to be reflected theoretical analysis and discussion.In the first chapter, the definition of the topic of the thesis, a summary and discussion of current research and research significance.In the second chapter, detailed Wenjing Guo in Wenchen Qin two works draw on melodic characteristics of the language characteristics of Chinese folk music, rhythm characteristics and tone characteristics theoretical analysis and summary.In the epilogue, the center of the content discussed in this article were summarized and abstract, and Guo Qin two works presented draw on the characteristics of Chinese folk music language summarized.
